How to Diet the Right Way

If you think there is a right way to diet then some of these things will probably sound familiar.

No not ready yet.

I’ve got to prepare myself.

Empty the fridge. Go shopping. Fill it with healthy food. Prepare myself mentally.

Start when I have time to focus, when I have time to prepare the right food – not when I am distracted by other things.

And finally you start the diet.

But things don’t go exactly as planned.

So, you start again.

Or don’t….

Does this sound familiar?

If this is you, I want offer you that there is no “right way”. And if that’s true, then you can just start. It doesn’t have to be perfect. You don’t have to wait or prepare for the perfect moment. You just take one action. And then another action. And another.

If you take an action that isn’t planned. It doesn’t have to mean that anything went wrong.

Take a moment to think about this.

If you planned to eat salad for dinner and you ate pizza, you can decide that nothing has gone wrong.

You don’t have to make it mean that you didn’t do it the “right way”. You don’t have to make it mean that you failed or even worse that you are a failure.

You can decide to think that it happened exactly how it was supposed to. You can be curious and compassionate with yourself.

When you do this, you are open to learning and growth. And you don’t stop taking action. In fact, when you are curious and compassionate you can discover why you ate pizza instead of soup, so next time you are better equipped and more prepared. You are one step closer to becoming the person you want to become.
